About me

I am an author and editor. I grew up in Stratford-upon-Avon and now live in London. Something To Live For (previously published as How Not To Die Alone in hardback in the US), is my first novel. It has been translated into 19 languages. My second novel, When We Were Young, is out now. I commission non-fiction books at Headline publishers, and do a bit of editing/proofreading over at Reedsy.

I am not the fictional character Richard Onslow Roper as portrayed by Hugh Laurie in The Night Manager. Sorry about that. I am also not Richard Roeper, the film critic, so if you have beef with a Chicago Tribune review of the new Marvel film then I’m afraid your angry tweet has left me quite confused.
